Very cool to see your inspirations! 😄

Unfortunately, Spider-Man: Blue is the only one that I've read on this list, I'll have to try and check out the others!

I read Blue not long after I had read The Death of Gwen Stacy, and I thought that Blue was a very good expansion of the latter (as well as being a good retelling of the romantic story of Peter and Gwen)!

As for me, I'm thankful for Ultimate Spider-Man (for getting me into Marvel and DC style superhero comics) and Kingdom Come. If we're counting manga as well, then also Dragon Ball for getting me into comics in general! 😄

Oh Ultimate Spider-Man!! What an amazing series! Yeah Spider-Man: Blue is one of my favourites. Kingdom Come is great too and I love Alex Ross’ artwork. I love his gouache painting style so much. I’ve never read the Dragon Ball manga but I loved watching the anime growing up.

Oh, yes - Alex Ross's art is amazing! 😄

If you loved the Dragon Ball anime, I highly recommend giving the manga a try as well - the anime was plagued with pacing issues (an unfortunate effect of how Japanese TV worked back in the day - they were given a weekly timeslot with no guarantee of ever getting it back if they went on a break, so they HAD to make weekly episodes even as the anime caught up to the manga as it was being released...) which the manga doesn't have. So even though I loved watch Dragon Ball and Z when it was on TV, I much prefer the manga! It's also a very good study in how to have the story flow from panel to panel, that I've taken to heart while I work on my own comic! 😄

On a similar note - have you seen the new Dragon Ball DAIMA?

No I haven’t. I only watched Dragon Ball as a child casually from time to time whenever it was on TV. I haven’t watched it in years. But I’ll definitely check out the manga at some point.
